|
• The parastatal restructuring highlighted in Case Study 3 resulted in
the creation of a public holding company following tiered debt/equity
swops and a series of hive-down subsidiaries and associates which
attracted major FDI, including the largest single investment in
primary agriculture made by Britain’s Commonwealth Development
Corporation, and probably by Holland’s FMO also (client funded out of
cash flow)
• Conceptualised the restructuring of a major conglomerate group when
its indebtedness threatened the stability of a country’s whole banking
system. This restructuring was comprehensive and within a few years
the holding company was listed and the group became the country’s
largest taxpayer. (World Bank funded).
• Currently (end-2003) assisting with an FDI financing package for a
major electricity transmission line over remote terrain in Africa.
• Feasibility and viability studies and financial plans for the
creation of industrial villages in Bosnia’s capital Sarajevo and in
Banja-Luka in constituent Republica Srpska; also of a heavy plant hire
facility for emergent civil engineering contractors in Ethiopia
(part-financed by IFC and the Know How Fund).
• Malawi investment road-show to four states in the USA and reciprocal
visit to Malawi by potential investors (USAID funded). Prepared a
video, brochures, all addresses and slides and handled the logistics
of both events.
